Singing Success, Inc Affiliate Disclosure Requirements and Examples for use on your web spaces. As a Singing Success Affiliate, YOU MUST FOLLOW THESE GUIDELINES when promoting Singing Success products, subscriptions and services. If you do not agree to everything in our Terms and Conditions AND these guidelines below, please email info@singingsuccess.com to have us delete your affiliate account.
Here are the Federal Trade Commission Disclosure Guidelines as of December, 2009 and May 2000. Singing Success, Inc. requires ALL affiliates to disclose their relationship with us on their websites, blogs and any web spaces where our products, services and subscriptions are reviewed, contain testimonials, contain endorsements, contain advertisements or any other forms of written promotion.
There are four basic requirements for disclosures. If you have further questions regarding these requirements email info@singingsuccess.com for more information.
#1) Frequent
Placing one disclosure on your home page is not enough. Disclosures must be on every page of your site that has a review, recommendation, comment or article appears that promotes a Singing Success product or subscription (SingingSuccess.TV) for which you may receive compensation from us.
#2) Clear
The disclosure must make it immediately clear to the reader that you are compensated for your review. You may include other information in your disclosure, such as whether you personally tested the product or that your review is honest, but you must disclose compensation first (at the beginning) and clearly. It should not be hidden in legalese or with small font somewhere at the bottom of your page. Here are some examples of acceptable (clear) and unacceptable (unclear) disclosures.
Unacceptable Example One
The following disclosure is unacceptable, because compensation is not disclosed at the beginning, but rather at the end.
Disclosure: We are a professional review site. We thoroughly test every product we review. We do not accept advertising and the opinions expressed here are our own. We will be compensated if you purchase a product described here through one of our links but we in no way allow that to impact our reviews.
Unacceptable Example Two
The following disclosure is unacceptable because it is unclear.
Disclosure: We are a website that needs compensation to operate like any other website on the internet. We may receive consideration for our reviews but we are totally unbiased and do not accept paid reviews or fake reviews claiming to be something they are not.
Acceptable Example One
The following disclosure is acceptable:
Disclosure: We are a professional review site that receives compensation from the companies whose products we review. We test each product thoroughly and give high marks to only the very best. We are independently owned and the opinions expressed here are our own.
#3) Conspicuous
The disclosure must be conspicuous and easy to see on your site (in other words, it should stand out). It has to stand out from other text on the page so that it is immediately evident to all visitors. The disclosure text must be as large or larger than the main text. The disclosure text must be colored (not black or gray) and contrast with both it's background and the main text. It must not be lighter than its background or the main text. It must begin with the word “Disclosure:”
Unacceptable Example Three
The following disclosure is unacceptable because it is not in a colored font. Black and/or gray are not acceptable for disclosure text.

#4) Requiring No Action
Your disclosure must be immediately visible to anyone who visits your reviews or endorsements. The visitor should not be required to take any action to view it. Such actions include:
* Scrolling: Your disclosure must appear “above the fold,” meaning the visitor does not have to scroll down to see it.
* Clicking: Visitors should not have to click a link to view your disclosure. Click-able links are only acceptable if the fact that your review is compensated is still obvious without clicking.
