I have had so many students start telling me about their singing goals and we inevitably hit the “I can’t” wall. I don’t want to sound like a “Hang in There” poster with the kitty hanging on the wall or whatever, but come on folks. Singing is such a tender and sweet gift you give yourself and the world.
If you’re going to insist you “can’t” you might as well tie your vocal cords in a knot while you’re at it. Give yourself a chance, lots of chances, and try not to judge yourself at every turn.
Being too hard on yourself while you’re learning something new is counter-productive. Love yourself, love your voice, be disciplined and watch yourself succeed!
